Morgan County, Alabama License Office

Driver's License

The Morgan County Commissioner of License office is an Alabama driverís license renewal office.  If you currently have an Alabama driverís license you may renew your license in our office.

Duplicate driverís license Ė If your current Alabama driverís license has been lost or stolen you may be issued a duplicate driverís license with the following documentation:

YOU MUST HAVE ONE DOCUMENT WITH YOUR NAME AND DATE OF BIRTH, ONE DOCUMENT WITH YOU NAME AND SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER

  • Birth Certificate
  • Social Security Card
  • Voterís Registration Card
  • Marriage application from Probate Office
  • History print out from Social Security Office with Social Security Number
  • W-2 form with Social Security Number
  • Picture ID from current place of employment or school picture ID badge
  • Payroll check stub with Social Security Number
  • Medicaid card with date of birth
  • Passport or Military ID
  • Pistol Permit
  • Medical Record with date of birth and social security number

CDL License - can be renewed in our office as long as there is not a Hazmat Endorsement on the license.

Foreign National Driverís License Ė must be renewed in the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency office located on the first floor Morgan County Courthouse Ė 256-351-4665

Veteranís Designation Ė Veteranís Designation may be added to Driverís License in License Commissionerís office located on the 2nd floor of the Morgan County Office, Hartselle Satellite office and Laceyís Spring Satellite office.                            
Documentation required: United States Military Form DD-214

Star ID Ė Star ID must be issued in Alabama Law Enforcement Agency office located on the first floor Morgan County Courthouse Ė 256-351-4665.

Star ID Ė New regulations will go into effect October 1, 2020.

IN ORDER TO BE ISSUED A STAR ID,
Applicants must verify their identity and date of birth by providing one of the following documents:

  • Certified Birth Certificate
  • Valid, unexpired Permanent Resident Card (Form I-551) issued by the Valid, unexpired United States Passport
  • Department of Homeland Security (DHS) or Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS)
  • Unexpired employment authorization document (EAD) issued by DHS (Form I-766 or Form I-688B)
  • Unexpired Foreign Passport with valid, unexpired US Visa affixed, accompanied by the approved I-94 form documenting the applicantís most recent admittance into the United States.
  • Certificate of Naturalization issued by DHS (form N-550 or N-570)
  • Certificate of Citizenship issued by DHS (Form N-560 or N-561)
  • A Real-ID compliant Driverís License or Non-Driver ID Card

Applicants must verify their Social Security Number by providing one of the following documents:

  • Social Security Card
  • A certified letter (on letterhead) from the Social Security Administration stating the personís name and Social Security Number
  • United States Military Identification Card
  • United States Military Form DD-214
  • Medicare/Medicaid Identification Card (if Social Security Number is followed by the letter A)
  • W-2 Tax Form

Applicants must verify their address of principal residence by providing any two of the following documents:

  • Voter Registration Card
  • Residential Mortgage Contract
  • Current Lease or Rental Agreement for housing
  • Proof of payment for Homestead residential property tax
  • Previous year tax returns bearing applicants residential address
  • Vehicle registration bearing applicants name and address
  • Utility bill (water, gas, electric) less than 90 days old
  • Any State or Federal Court documents indicating residence address
  • School enrollment documentation
  • Defense Department Form 214 ( report of separation)
  • Sex offender registration documents
  • Current Homeowners insurance policy with name and address
  • Social Security benefits statements/summary mailed to the physical address
  • US or State Government check or other document mailed to applicants physical address
  • Military Orders documenting duty station and place of residence
